You might be asking: Which kind of lock is right for me? The answer is that it depends on what you are going to use it for. To help, we will briefly go over the uses of each type.

  • Padlocks are very versatile and can be used for a variety of applications.  They fit well into recessed handles and also work well with protruding handles.  They work great with both single-point and multi-point latches. Both combination padlocks adn keyed padlocks are available as options.
  • Built-in Combo Locks are very popular because they provide a very clean look, cannot be cut with bolt cutters like padlocks. Since the locker lock is permanently attached to the door, built-in combination locks are not prone to loss or theft.  Locks bought in a set are all keyed to open with the same master key.  Each lock can cycle between 5 different combinations so that the combination can be changed between school years or after an employee leaves, etc.
  • Built-in Keyed Locks offer many of the same security advanteges as combo locks. The use of keys allows the user to uncock the door without taking the time to put in the combination.  The keys also eliminate the worry and hastle that com with forgetting/remembering a combination.
  • Electronic locks can be opened with either an electronic key or a 4 – Digit pin.  An electronic keypad makes punching in a pin much easier and faster than dialing in a combination on a combo lock.
  • Coin Operated locks can be a great way to gain some revenue from your lockers.  Coin collect locks are the most popular, but coin return lockers can also be used. Coin return lockers give the user his/her money back once he/she returns the key to the lock.
